Miami, FL – The Florida Marlins announced they would be retaining manager Fredi Gonzalez and building the roster around utility infielder Andy Gonzalez to help offset the crippling cost of customizing team jerseys. Team officials estimate they will save hundreds by buying Gonzalez jerseys in bulk rather than the current any-name-goes jersey
“Imagine if you had to buy socks for a family of 10. Would you buy 10 individual packs of socks for each member with different colors and feel? Or would you buy a twelve pack of Hanes. You’re still keeping your family’s feet warm with Hanes,” said Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria.
The team is targeting 76 major and minor league players that fulfill the Gonzalez in trades or free agent signings. Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez will also workout for the team in hopes of becoming the next two-sport star. The team requested permission from MLB to allow Anthony to reuse his Colts’ jersey during games but have yet to receive a response.
